DENALI 3 - ROBBY 0

Denali's remote location, extreme latitude, and sheer size make it a formidable challenge. Despite two previous attempts on North America's highest peak, brutal blizzard conditions resulted in the team making a decision to abandon our climb.

We were pinned down in Camp 2 at 3500m for 9 days as continuous blizzards and temperatures below -20˚C wasted valuable time and energy.

The mountain isn't going anywhere, and neither am I.

With temperatures known to plummet as low as -40˚ climbers need to ensure they prepared for the worst. Out there the cold isn't unpleasant - it's lethal.

On 23 May 2009 Robby Kojetin stood on the summit of Mount Everest, making him the 17th South African to summit the highest mountain on Earth.

KILIMANJARO -  TANZANIA  |  AFRICA

Africa's Jewel

I am proud to say I have summited Kilimanjaro from every route. I've seen her best and worst sides and hold a deep respect for her. Helping others to reach the summit 10 times over the last 25 years is as much a privilege as it is a challenge.

MT ELBRUS -  RUSSIA  |  EUROPE

 Mount Elbrus

Our team summited Mt Elbrus for the first time in July 2004. Since then I have led two groups on Europe's highest peak.

If you can survive the locals, the summit's a breeze.
